Men's Golf Takes Third At Wolf Run Intercollegiate

Oct. 8, 2006

The UCF men's golf team posted the best score of the final round of the Wolf Run Invitational on Sunday to take third at the event hosted by Indiana University. It was the best team finish of the season for the Golden Knights, who equaled Louisville with the low-round of the day as both squads turned in team scores of 302 (+18).

The Cardinals ended up losing a playoff with eventual team champion Kentucky on the second playoff hole. UCF, who finished 10 strokes behind the Wildcats, was led by sophomore Kyle Davis (Kennett Square, Pa./Unionville), who tied for seventh with a six-over total of 219. Davis had the second-best individual round of the day, with a one-over 72 on the Wolf Run Golf Club course.

Freshman Nuno Henriques (Funchal, Portugal/The Pendleton School) joined Davis in the top 10, just one stroke behind his teammate in 10th with a seven-over total of 220. The finish was the best for Henriques in his young UCF career as he fired a 75 on the final day along with sophomore Preston Brown (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla./Nease).

Brown finished in a tie for 15th with a 226 (+12), while classmate Greg Forest (Palm City, Fla./Martin County) also scored on the final day for the Golden Knights, turning in an 80 to tie for 27th.

The Golden Knights return to the links on Oct. 22-24 when the squad hosts the Isleworth-UCF Invitational at the Isleworth Golf & Country Club. The 18-team tournament features one of the strongest fields in collegiate golf.
