HOUSTON - Junior middle blocker Lorin Lukas (Winter Springs, Fla./Winter Springs HS) and freshman outside hitter Erin Campbell (Kansas City, Mo./North Kansas City HS) both registered double-doubles, but it was not enough as the UCF volleyball team fell to Rice, 3-1 (26-30, 30-27, 30-21, 30-25), in Conference USA play at Autry Court on Friday evening. Lukas and Campbell both had 10 kills and 13 digs for the Golden Knights.

The Golden Knights (5-11, 1-4 C-USA) were playing for the first time in a week. UCF hit for .093 for the match after hitting .213 in the opening game. The Owls, who improve to 10-10 and 3-3 with the victory, had a .173 hitting percentage for the contest.

Lukas recorded six service aces, good for fifth on UCF's single-match register, and Campbell totaled four service aces. As a team, the Golden Knights posted 15 service aces.

Senior middle blocker Jana Mitchell (Champlin, Minn./Osseo HS) posted a season-high 10 kills to go with six total blocks for UCF. Sophomore middle blocker Stephanie Serna (San Antonio, Texas/O'Connor HS) also had 10 kills and five blocks. The Golden Knights recorded 11.5 total team blocks.

Playing in her fourth contest of the season, junior libero Cassie Ramaekers (Blue Grass, Iowa/West HS) tallied a season-best 17 digs. Freshman setter Andrea Youngblood (Castle Rock, Colo./Douglas County HS) had 38 assists and five blocks in the losing effort.

Jessie Boulavsky led the Owls with 20 kills and Natalie Bogan had 13 kills and 12 digs. In the win, Rachel Lopez recorded 49 assists.

UCF will continue its two-match Texas road swing on Sunday, facing Houston at 2 p.m. Eastern. The Golden Knights' next home contest is slated for Friday, Oct. 13 at 3 p.m. against Marshall. The match will be played at the Education Gym on the UCF campus.
