ORLANDO - UCF junior goalkeeper Jennifer Manis (Pensacola, Fla./Washington HS) was named to the SoccerAmerica Women's Team of the Week on Wednesday. Earlier in the week, Manis was named the Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week.
Manis earned the national honor after recording 10 saves in a pair of league victories for the Golden Knights this past weekend. She opened the week with five saves and notched her third shutout of the season as UCF registered a 1-0 victory at ninth-ranked Rice. She nearly mirrored that performance the following game at Houston, totaling five saves, allowing one goal and getting her sixth win of the season as the Golden Knights won 5-1.
Starting all 11 matches this season, Manis has a 1.16 goals-against-average, which ranks sixth-best in Conference USA.
The last Golden Knight to receive the SoccerAmerica honor was forward Kendra Flock in 2004.
The Golden Knights (6-4-1, 2-0-0 C-USA) play host to Memphis on Friday, Oct. 6 at 7 p.m. and UAB on Sunday, Oct. 8 at 1 p.m.
