ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - The UCF volleyball team will conclude a five-match road swing on Wednesday, Nov. 1 when the Golden Knights face Florida Atlantic in Boca Raton. First serve at FAU Arena is scheduled for 7 p.m.
The contest will serve as the final non-conference match for the Golden Knights (5-18) this season. Florida Atlantic enters the match with an 8-16 record.
Since facing East Carolina at home on Oct. 15, the Golden Knights have played four-straight Conference USA road contests. In its last outing, UCF dropped a 3-0 match to East Carolina on Oct. 29.
Junior outside hitter Schanell Neiderworder (Aurora, Colo./Grandview HS) paces the Golden Knights, averaging 3.20 kills per game. Freshman setter Andrea Youngblood (Castle Rock, Colo./Douglas County HS) is averaging 8.16 assists per game.
The Owls have dropped eight of their last nine contests, including a 3-0 loss to Western Kentucky on Saturday.
UCF leads the all-time series with the Owls, 25-7. Both squads are former members of the Atlantic Sun Conference. Florida Atlantic is in its first season in the Sun Belt. A year ago, the Owls recorded a 3-0 victory over the Golden Knights in Orlando.
UCF's next home contest is slated for Friday, Nov. 3 versus UTEP at 7 p.m. at the UCF Arena. The match with the Miners is UCF's "Dig for the Cure" contest. Fans can help the team raise funds for breast cancer research by pledging money per dig earned, or by making flat donations. Checks can be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
