UCF Travels To Marshall For First C-USA Road Contest

Oct. 3, 2006

ORLANDO - UCF is playing its second-consecutive midweek contest on Wednesday as the Golden Knights face Marshall in a game that will be broadcasted nationally on ESPN2 at 7:30 p.m. The Knights' series with the Thundering Herd is the longest running with any team as the two squads will play for the fifth-consecutive year.

After dropping the first three contests of the series, UCF used a 23-13 victory over Marshall on Sept. 24 last year to snap that streak and an overall losing streak that had reached 17 games. UCF went on to win seven of its last eight regular season games to claim the C-USA East Division title.

This will be the C-USA opener for the Thundering Herd, who went 1-3 in four straight non-conference games to open its season. Both teams joined C-USA last season after meeting three previous times as members of the Mid-American Conference.

The game features two of the top running backs in the league as Marshall's Ahmad Bradshaw and UCF's Kevin Smith were selected to the preseason All-C-USA first team by the league's 12 head coaches. The two running backs rank two-three among C-USA rushers in yards per game this season with 87.2 and 79.0, respectively.
