GREENVILLE, N.C. (www.ucfathletics.com) - UCF dropped a 3-0 (30-25, 30-12, 30-21) match in Conference USA volleyball action to East Carolina on Sunday afternoon at Minges Coliseum. Sophomore middle blocker Stephanie Serna (San Antonio, Texas/O'Connor HS) paced the Golden Knights with nine kills.
The Golden Knights (5-18, 1-11 C-USA) were playing their fourth-consecutive contest on the road.
The Pirates, who improved to 18-9 overall and 9-4 in league play with the victory, hit .282 for the match, compared to .054 for the visitors.
Senior setter Leah Alexander (Georgetown, Texas/Leander HS) had 16 assists for UCF. Serna added a pair of service aces in the losing effort.
Kelley Wernert paced the hosts with 14 kills. Heidi Krug had 32 assists for the Pirates.
The Golden Knights return to the floor on Wednesday, Nov. 1, facing Florida Atlantic in Boca Raton at 7 p.m. UCF's next home contest is slated for Nov. 3 versus UTEP at 7 p.m. at the UCF Arena.
