UCF's Miller, Conn Earn Conference USA All-Academic Honors

Oct. 27, 2006

IRVING, Texas (www.ucfathletics.com) - Junior Elizabeth Miller (Orlando, Fla./Timber Creek HS) and sophomore Daniel Conn (Ocala, Fla./Trinity Catholic HS) were named to the inaugural Conference USA All-Academic Teams, the league office announced on Friday afternoon.

Nominees had to earn a 3.2 cumulative grade point average and have competed in more than half of the scheduled meets in order to qualify. The conference's sports information contacts for cross country then voted for the 10 athletes that made the two teams, which were separated by gender.

An accounting major, Conn raced in all but one of UCF's four meets this season. After opening the season with a 26:58.45 at the Mountain Dew Invitational, he recorded a personal best of 26:34.52 in the 8K to help lead the Golden Knights to the Disney Classic title. In the past, Conn earned a spot on the 2004-05 Atlantic Sun All-Academic Team and the 2005-06 C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll.

Miller, a molecular and microbiology major, has scored in all four meets thus far this season and posted times under 20 minutes in the 5K at three events. She finished with a season-best time of 19:34.19 at the Mountain Dew Invitational. Miller also found a place on the 2004-05 Atlantic Sun All-Academic Team and the 2005-06 C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll.

Both Miller and Conn are members of the Dean's List and Athletics Director Honor Roll.

"I'm excited for both Liz and Daniel because they are both model student-athletes," said UCF head coach Marcia Mansur-Wentworth. "It's great that the conference has recognized them in this way."

The Golden Knights race at the 2006 Conference USA Championships in Greenville, N.C. on Saturday, Oct. 28.
