Birmingham, Ala. (www.ucfathletics.com) - The UCF volleyball team dropped a 3-0 (30-19, 30-19, 30-25) match in Conference USA play to host UAB on Sunday afternoon at Bartow Arena. Senior outside hitter Maina Heming (Sao Leopoldo, Brazil) paced the Golden Knights with 10 kills.
The Blazers (17-9, 4-6 C-USA) hit .438 in game two and recorded a .288 hitting percentage for the match. UCF (5-16, 1-9) hit .134 for the contest.
Sophomore middle blocker Stephanie Serna (San Antonio, Texas/O'Connor HS) added nine kills for the Golden Knights. Freshman setter Andrea Youngblood (Castle Rock, Colo./Douglas County HS) recorded 20 assists and junior outside hitter Lorin Lukas (Winter Springs, Fla./Winter Springs HS) had a team-high 10 digs.
Ivana Bozic had 17 kills for the Blazers and Casey Dent added 11 kills to go with five service aces. Nevena Stefanov dished out 17 kills in the winning effort.
The match was the second of five-straight on the road for the Golden Knights.
UCF will return to the court on Friday, Oct. 27 at Marshall at 7 p.m. in Huntington, W.Va. The Golden Knights' next home match is slated for Friday, Nov. 3 versus UTEP at the UCF Arena.
