Memphis, Tenn. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Junior outside hitter Schanell Neiderworder (Aurora, Colo./Grandview HS) recorded a double-double with 10 kills and 14 digs, but it was not enough as the UCF volleyball team dropped a 3-0 (30-21, 30-18, 30-28) Conference USA match to host Memphis on Friday evening at the Elma Roane Fieldhouse. The Golden Knights were playing the first of five-straight matches away from Orlando.
The Tigers (20-4, 6-3 C-USA) have won 12 consecutive home contests. UCF falls to 5-15 and 1-8 with the loss.
Neiderworder posted her sixth double-double of the season and first since Sept. 29. Sophomore middle blocker Jenny Heppert (Lawrence, Kan./Free State HS) chipped in with eight kills for the Golden Knights. Senior setter Leah Alexander (Georgetown, Texas/Leander HS) had 16 assists. UCF hit .093 for the match.
Memphis had a .300 hitting percentage in game one and hit .293 for the contest. Shelby Burton tallied 12 kills and Melissa Nance added 10 kills. Laura Cote recorded a match-high 37 assists and Sarah Bury had 15 digs for the Tigers.
UCF returns to action on Sunday, facing host UAB at 2 p.m. Eastern in Birmingham, Ala. The Golden Knights next home match is slated for Friday, Nov. 3 versus UTEP at the UCF Arena.
