Orlando, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Neighbors and others interested in discussing the University of Central Florida's suggested traffic and parking plans for its new on-campus football stadium are encouraged to attend an open house Monday, Oct. 16.
The open house will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the first-floor Art Gallery at the Visual Arts Building on UCF's main campus. Free parking will be available in the lot just west of the Visual Arts Building.
Residents can speak one-on-one with UCF staff and representatives from PBS&J, the consulting firm that is helping the university develop a Transportation Management Plan for the stadium. A traffic simulation video and campus area maps will be on display to facilitate discussions between the project team and the public.
UCF and PBS&J have worked with residents, local governments and businesses to identify the best ways to handle traffic for the stadium, which is scheduled to open in fall 2007. Many neighbors and other interested residents provided input during an open house in July, and several meetings with homeowners' groups have been held during the past year.
The university's goal is to continue to develop and refine an efficient traffic and parking plan that will minimize the impact on adjacent neighborhoods. The Transportation Management Plan will address on- and off-campus traffic flow, parking and the use of shuttle buses to take fans to and from games.
The stadium will be on the northern part of the campus, near the UCF Arena and several athletic fields.
Neighborhood groups, business leaders and others who would like UCF representatives to attend their meetings and discuss the stadium can contact Cynthia Sucher, associate vice president for Community Relations, at 407-823-6609 or csucher@mail.ucf.edu.
Anyone with questions about the meeting or the project can contact Gary Carlin at 407-647-7275, 800-284-5182 or gacarlin@pbsj.com.
