DeLand, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Led by redshirt freshman Amanda Monde (Jupiter HS), the UCF women's cross country team took home fifth place at the Stetson Invitational on Friday afternoon at Sperling Sports Complex.
Monde posted a personal-best time of 21:01in the 5K to earn 23rd place. Sophomore Kelly McNeill (Coral Springs, Fla./Taravella HS) followed two seconds behind in 24th place.
Meanwhile, freshman Shannon Kelly (Tampa, Fla./Sickles HS) was 27th at 21:06, besting junior Annie Lolagne (Orlando, Fla./University HS), who took 28th at 21:14.
Sophomore Mary Schaefer (Tampa, Fla./Plant HS) rounded out the scoring in 40th place at 21:49.
Florida Atlantic captured the women's overall title with 47 points with Jacksonville in second (73 points) and Florida Gulf Coast in third (134). UCF collected 142 points for fifth.
The varsity men's and women's squads compete at 34th Furman Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 14. The first race begins at 9 a.m. on the Furman University Golf Course.
