IRVING, TEXAS- UCF freshman Jenny Clausen was named Conference USA Female Cross Country Athlete of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday.
Clausen placed 12th at the Disney Classic on Oct. 7 as she crossed the finish line in a time of 18:31.20. The effort moved her into fifth all-time at UCF in the 5K. The Golden Knights finished sixth in the field of 36 teams.
"We're excited that Jenny earned the honor," said UCF head coach Marcia Mansur-Wentworth, who is also a native of the Garden State. "She is an impressive young woman and a very dedicated athlete. She has been working very hard this year and deserves to be recognized for her accomplishments."
Clausen has been the Golden Knights' No. 1 runner in all three races this season. She opened up the season with a time of 18:35.49 to finish in the top 25 at the University of Florida's Mountain Dew Invitational.
Clausen returns to action when UCF travels to the Furman Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 14.
