ORLANDO - Members of the UCF volleyball team gave back to the community recently, serving as "buddies" for disabled children playing baseball in the Miracle League. UCF student-athletes helped the special needs children play a two-inning game on a specially-constructed, rubberized field at Trotters Park in Orlando.

The Golden Knights helped children, ranging in age from six to 15, round the bases and make defensive plays in the field. The children were separated into two teams and each player batted once each inning and all batters were allowed to score a run before the inning was over.

The Miracle League was formed in 1998 and has over 143 organizations across the country.

UCF's next match is scheduled for Oct. 6 at Rice in Houston, Texas. After a contest at Houston, the squad will return to Orlando to host Marshall on Friday, Oct. 13. The match against the Thundering Herd will be played at the Education Gym on the UCF campus and is set to start at 3 p.m.

Admission to all UCF home contests is free courtesy of McDonald's. For the latest news and information on the Golden Knights, tickets or apparel, log on to www.ucfathletics.com - the official site for UCF athletics.
