ORLANDO - The UCF women's cross country "B" team competes in the FLRunners.com Invitational at Tampa's Ed Radice Park on Friday. The race is scheduled to start at 5:40 p.m.
Leading the Golden Knights into the event is senior Christina Jones (Coral Springs HS). She ran a personal best of 19:47.85 at the Mountain Dew Invitational on Sept. 16 and has continued to look strong during workouts.
Two other veterans who also set personal bests at the Mountain Dew Invitational will run on Friday. Sophomore Annie Lolagne (Orlando/University HS) recorded a 20:24.87 to finish ninth, while her classmate Mary Schaefer (Tampa, Fla./Plant HS) posted a time of 20:51.27.
A varsity runner a year ago, sophomore Kelly McNeill (Coral Springs, Fla./Taravella HS) will also be in the lineup. She set a personal best time of 19:51.17 at the 2005 Disney Classic.
After a convincing debut at the Mountain Dew Invitational, where she finished in UCF's No. 7 position at 20:16.95, freshman Erica Weitz (Morganville, N.J./Malboro HS) continues to be a surprise. She is joined by classmate Shannon Kelly, who ran a 21:2.40 at the same meet.
Freshmen Jaclyn Johnson, Lauren Iseman and Kellie Dwyer make their collegiate debut at the event.
