TULSA, Okla. - Junior outside hitter Schanell Neiderworder (Aurora, Colo./Grandview HS) had a double-double with 15 kills and 16 digs, but it was not enough as the UCF volleyball team dropped a 3-1 (30-21, 30-20, 27-30, 30-21) Conference USA match to Tulsa at the Reynolds Center on Sunday afternoon. The Golden Knights (5-9, 1-2 C-USA) were playing at Tulsa for the first time.
UCF hit just .022 for the match, compared to .196 for the Golden Hurricane (16-3, 3-0). Tulsa hit .357 in game four.
Neiderworder and senior outside hitter Maina Heming (Sao Leopoldo, Brazil) each tallied four kills as the Golden Knights claimed game three. Heming finished with 10 kills and 15 digs.
Freshman setter Andrea Youngblood (Castle Rock, Colo./Douglas County HS) had 41 assists in the loss. She is averaging 11.23 assists per game in league play in 2006. Youngblood also had five total blocks.
Tulsa claimed its seventh-straight victory. Kassiana Urnau paced the Golden Hurricane with 22 kills. Germana Hilario had 15 kills and 12 digs. Julia Silva recorded 52 assists and 21 digs for the hosts, both match highs.
UCF and Tulsa were meeting for the third time, but for the first time in Tulsa. A year ago, the squads played in Orlando.
