ORLANDO - The UCF volleyball team concluded play at its second home tournament of the season on Saturday, dropping a 3-1 (28-30, 30-27, 30-20, 30-17) match to Utah Valley State at the UCF Arena. Junior outside hitter Lorin Lukas tied a school single-match record with seven service aces for the Golden Knights (3-4).
Lukas also recorded a double-double with 16 kills and 18 digs in the losing effort at the UCF Classic. UCF hit just .062 for the contest, compared to .237 for the Wolverines, who improve to 4-3 with the win.
The Golden Knights totaled 13 service aces as sophomore middle blocker Jenny Heppert had two. Senior outside hitter Maina Heming had 12 kills and senior setter Leah Alexander recorded 35 assists for UCF.
Camie Manwill paced Utah Valley State with 13 kills. Ashley Dallin and Jessica Endres both registered 12 kills in the winning effort. Tournament MVP Lacee Koelliker recorded a match-high 47 assists. Chelsea Baugh had 24 digs for the Wolverines.
Lukas, Endres, Furman's Chibuzo Aguocha and Courtney Stewardson and Samford's Sheridan Stangohr were named to the all-tournament squad.
The Golden Knights return to action on Friday, facing fifth-ranked Florida in Gainesville at 7 p.m. as part of the Campus USA Credit Union Classic. On Saturday, UCF faces Florida A&M at 1 p.m.
