Aug. 25, 2006

ORLANDO - The UCF football team is joining McDonald's this season to raise money for the Orlando Ronald McDonald House with the "Run for Ronald" program. In 2006, the Central Florida McDonald's Co-operative will donate $1 for each yard gained by the Golden Knights and $100 for each touchdown scored by UCF during the regular season to the Ronald McDonald House of Orlando on the campus of Florida Hospital and the Arnold Palmer Medical Center.

The "Run for Ronald" program will kickoff Saturday when Ronald McDonald joins UCF head coach George O'Leary and the Golden Knights at the team's annual fan photo day. The event is scheduled for 4 p.m. at the practice fields next to the new Wayne Densch Sports Center on the UCF campus.

The Ronald McDonald House of Orlando is a nonprofit organization that provides temporary housing for families of seriously ill children who are receiving medical treatment at local hospitals.

The McDonald's Co-operative of Central Florida is an association of 32 owner/operators who operate 173 restaurants in the region.

UCF opens the 2006 campaign on Sept. 2 against Villanova at the Florida Citrus Bowl. The Golden Knights have seven home games this season. Ticket orders for this year are now being accepted at 407-UCF-1000.
