ORLANDO - A pair of goals from junior forward KeLeigh Hudson helped No. 11 Florida defeat UCF, 3-1, in women's soccer exhibition action at the UCF Soccer Complex on Sunday afternoon.
The Golden Knights opened up the rain-soaked game with a good scoring chance from senior forward Roberta Pelarigo that was tipped over the crossbar by UF keeper Brittni Goodwin. The Gators struck first in the 18th minute when Hudson capitalized on a penalty kick.
Hudson found the back of the net for a second time in the 40th minute, scoring low short side before Pelarigo chipped in UCF's goal off a rebound with four minutes left until intermission.
UF added an insurance goal in the 56th minute as junior forward Stacy Bishop connected off a serve from freshman forward Ashlee Elliott.
The Golden Knights owned the advantage in both shots (16-11) and in corner kicks (6-4). UCF junior goalkeeper Jennifer Manis made two saves on the afternoon. For the Gators, Goodwin made one save in 45 minutes of play, while freshman Katie Fraine had two.
The Golden Knights make their regular season debut at Miami on Aug. 25 at 7 p.m.
