McDonald's to Provide Free Admission to UCF Soccer, Volleyball Contests

Aug. 17, 2006

ORLANDO - Fans will receive free admission to all home UCF men's and women's soccer and volleyball matches this fall courtesy of local McDonald's restaurants. Golden Knight supporters will be able to attend 29 total events free of charge in 2006.

"We are excited about this new partnership with our local McDonald's franchises," said UCF director of athletics Keith R. Tribble. "At UCF, we strive to not only serve our student-athletes, but to have a positive impact in the community. Partnering with McDonald's allows us make our events more accessible to the public and we thank McDonald's for their generosity."

The Golden Knight soccer programs play their home matches at the UCF Soccer Complex, which is located next to the UCF Arena. The men's team opens its home schedule on Sept. 7 versus North Florida at 7 p.m. The squad has seven home matches this year. The women's program also has seven home tilts and makes its home debut on Sept. 1 against Florida Atlantic at 7 p.m.

The UCF volleyball team will have 15 home contests in 2006. The Golden Knights open the season on Aug. 25, hosting local rival Stetson at 7 p.m. as part of the UCF Fall Invitational. All volleyball matches are played at the UCF Arena.

"It is not easy finding affordable entertainment for the entire family these days," said John Petrakis, a local McDonald's franchisee. "McDonald's supports UCF athletics and we felt that this would be a great way to encourage families, youth teams and service organizations to get behind the Golden Knights."
