Football Practice Report No. 11

Aug. 15, 2006

ORLANDO - The UCF football team practiced in full pads for two hours on Tuesday afternoon. UCF's defensive backs were impressive during the session as senior cornerback Travonti Johnson and sophomore cornerback Joe Burnett both recorded interceptions in 11-on-11 action.

Head coach George O'Leary opened the practice by having the squad work on extra-point and two-point conversion attempts.

Throughout the preseason, the coach has complimented the play of several wide receivers, including freshmen Jamar Newsome and Brian Watters. Despite praise for the rookies, O'Leary is still not sure who will join senior wideout Mike Walker in the starting lineup.

"I am going to have a depth (chart) by Friday," O'Leary said. "Everyday, somebody has a different type of day. You like to see more consistency at that position. Right now I am looking for more consistency and the guy who comes in and can put in three or four days in a row, that is the guy who is going to get the nod."

On Wednesday, UCF will practice from 9:30-11:40 a.m.
