Football Practice Report No. 2

Aug. 6, 2006

ORLANDO - The UCF football team completed its second practice of the 2006 preseason on Sunday afternoon on campus. The Golden Knights practiced for two hours outside under extremely hot conditions.

Head coach George O'Leary has been pleased with the first two practice sessions and is expecting the team's younger players to quickly learn the UCF system.

"We are better (now) than we were in the spring," said O'Leary. "But it is only the second day of preseason. I think the big thing for the freshmen is can they absorb what we install."

Sunday's practice had a quick tempo as members of the team are already in top shape after participating in voluntary workouts over the summer.

The Golden Knights will have their first full-contact practice on Wednesday.

Following practice, UCF held its annual media day at the Nicholson Fieldhouse. In addition to taking the 2006 team photo, coaches and players spoke to members of the media for about an hour.

The Golden Knights will now return to the practice field on Monday morning at 9:30 a.m.
