| Moderator: Thank you for joining us, the chat with Keith Tribble will begin momentarily. | ||
Preston (Orlando): Welcome to Orlando Mr. Tribble! I wanted to know if both the new convocation center and football stadium are still on track for completion by August 2007? Also, are you exicted about the potential here of the UCF Athletics program?
Keith Tribble: At this point, both facilities are on track for completion in 2007. We are excited about the prospect of having two new facilities As I have stated in my earlier interviews, UCF is a diamond in the rough and has tremendous potential. We will strive to reach that potential and in the process educate and graduate our student athletes.
| Ray Riley (Atlanta): In your introduction to UCF as the new AD, you stated the need to finish. For a sports program just now arriving on the scene, what in your mind would define a finish? or are you implying we need to continue to develop the sports programs with the initiatives we have started (i.e., the facilities, etc.) | ||
| Keith Tribble: To finish means that it's important for us to complete the facility projects and make sure they are ready on time. Also, to finish the job of making sure all of our sports are competitive within the conference and nationally. | ||
| Brian (Orlando):: Good morning, Mr. Tribble, thank you for taking the time. My question and request for comment relates to the current level of season ticket sales and how it compares to previous year's. Thanks again in advance for your comment. | ||
| Keith Tribble: We are excited about the response and commitment of our season ticket holders. We are having a great year in terms of season ticket sales. We are currently up 30 percent over last year's sales figures for season tickets and our total ticket revenue is almost double what was done all of last year, including single-game sales. For those who are not sure, now is the time to buy to ensure you will have good seats this year and in the new stadium. | ||
| Mike K. (Phoenix): Most mid-majors struggle with retaining quality coaches and keeping them from BCS conference schools. How important was it to lock up Coach O'Leary for a ten-year deal? | ||
Keith Tribble: It was very important for the continued growth of the football program for us to lock up Coach O'Leary for the foreseeable future. Coach O'Leary is one of the best in college football and his impact on our program has been tremendous. The turnaround of the program last year speaks volumes in terms of the quality of coaching staff we have in place. Coach O'Leary stresses the importance of academic success as well as success on the field and prepares his players for all areas of life.
Daniel Wade(Palm City): Before the University of Miami moved to the ACC and we moved to Conference USA both schools signed a contract to start playing football in 2008(2008,2010 in Miami and 2009 in Orlando). Will that contract be honored? Glad to have you on board!
| Keith Tribble: Yes. We fully intend to play Miami. One of our goals is to play all the major schools in Florida. We currently have games scheduled with Florida and South Florida and we have played Florida State in the past. | ||
| Lisa Mills, Producer of UCF Metro: Mr. Tribble, can you explain how the success of UCF's football team translates into support and success for other UCF athletics, such as women's sports? | ||
| Keith Tribble: The success of revenue-producing programs like football, basketball, etc., are vital to the support and success of the entire department. The more success we sustain in football, the more opportunity we have to generate financial support. That translates to more support for all of our programs and helps them compete at the highest level. | ||
| Keith Tribble: Thank you for your questions today and for your continued support of UCF athletics. | ||
