NEW YORK, N.Y. - UCF baseball signee Chris Duffy was selected with the 285th pick in the ninth round by the defending World Champion Chicago White Sox in Tuesday's Major League Baseball Draft. Duffy is the third UCF signee to be drafted, joining left-handed pitcher Glenn Gibson (Fourth round, Washington Nationals) and right-handed pitcher Jacob Brigham (Sixth round, Texas Rangers).
For the first time in UCF history, the Golden Knights have had three recruits taken in the first nine rounds of the draft.
Recruiting coordinator and pitching coach Craig Cozart has seen eight of his recruits selected in the last two Major League Drafts.
Duffy was named to the Orlando Sentinel All-Central Florida First Team after a stellar senior season. Duffy played third base and batted .484 with nine home runs and 36 RBI.
