ORLANDO - UCF women's cross country and track coach Marcia Mansur-Wentworth announced Tuesday the signing of Whitby, Ontario's Carley Dart to a National Letter of Intent (NLI).
A multi-sport athlete, Dart attended Father Leo J. Austin High School and ran with the Durham Dragons club. In 2003, she finished in the top 10 at the 19-and-under championship and won the provincial title in both the indoor 400-meter and 800-meter.She returned to the provincial finals in both events in 2004 then won the 400m and 800m races at the 2005 International Meet of Champions.
Dart was also a former Skate Canada junior figure skater and competed in both volleyball and soccer.
"Carley is a very talented young woman with limitless potential. I look forward to having her join our program," said Mansur-Wentworth. "She is a well rounded student-athlete who brings a lot to the UCF team. With the addition of Carley and our other two signees, Jenny Clausen and Shannon Kelly, I hope to have a much improved cross country team in the fall and a much deeper middle distance and distance group in the spring."
In their first year in Conference USA, the Golden Knights placed ninth at the cross country championship. They also took seventh at the indoor track and field championship and eighth in the outdoor championship.
