CAMDEN, N.J. - The UCF lightweight eight women's rowing team placed fifth at the Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) Championships on the Cooper River Saturday.
The Golden Knights, which entered the weekend ranked fifth in nation in the USRowing Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association Varsity Lightweight Eight Poll, recorded a time of 6:58.58.
Wisconsin defended its national title, posting a time of 6:46.51 to grab top honors in the field of 12 teams. The Badgers were followed by Georgetown in second, Radcliffe in third and Princeton in fourth. Bucknell took sixth.
The Golden Knights improved upon last year's seventh place finish.
