Softball Hosts East Carolina for Final Weekend

ORLANDO-The UCF softball team hosts Conference USA foe East Carolina Saturday and Sunday. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. both days. The Golden Knights enter the weekend with a 19-34 season record and 4-17 C-USA mark, while the Pirates are 36-22 and 10-11.

The squads will play two games on Saturday and conclude the series with one contest on Sunday. Tickets are available at the gate, $5 for adults and $3 for senior citizens and children ages 5-17.

Scouting UCF...Cici Alvarez leads the team with a .329 batting average, 51 hits, 25 walks, 15 sacrifice hits and 22 stolen bases. Allison Kime paces the pitching staff with a 1.68 ERA and a 13-16 mark as she has given up 82 runs on 168 hits with 209 strikeouts in 208.2 innings of work.

Last Time Out...UCF dropped two games to in-state rival Florida State Tuesday night at the UCF Softball Stadium. The Seminoles won game one 2-0 and then followed it up with an 8-2 victory in the nightcap. Freshman Michelle Newton paced the Golden Knight offense, going 3-for-5 with one run scored.

Scouting East Carolina...Krista Jessup leads the Pirates with a .333 batting average, while pitcher Keli Harrell is 22-14 in 40 appearances with an ERA of 1.72.

Last Time Out...The Pirates swept C-USA rival Southern Miss in a three-game series last weekend (4-3, 3-2, 4-3). East Carolina was led by Krista Jessup who went 5-for-11 with two runs. Keli Harrell picked up two wins in the circle for ECU, pitching 15.1 innings and giving up two runs on seven hits with 15 strikeouts.

Series vs. East Carolina...This weekend marks the first meeting between the Golden Knights and the Pirates on the softball diamond.
