May 30, 2006

ORLANDO - The UCF women's soccer 2006 recruiting class was ranked No. 1 in Conference USA as announced by SoccerBuzz.com. The Golden Knights were ranked third among C-USA schools in 2005.

"It is always a great honor to have a respected soccer authority like Soccer Buzz recognize UCF, my staff and the student-athletes for all of their hardwork," head coach Amanda Cromwell said. "Conference USA is positioning itself as one of the top women's soccer conferences in the country and we expect that this recruiting class will help us in our effort to defend our 2005 C-USA title."

Following the Golden Knights on the list were UAB, Rice, Colorado College and Memphis.

Making up the class of 2006 are three All-Americas in Jenny Baker, Nikki Moore and Brianna Schooley, while Cara Bortz, Yvonne George and Becca Thomas all have ODP experience. Courtney Whidden was named the St. Petersburg Times Female Player of the Year and Sarah deLeon received Pierce Seamount Division First and Second-Team honors.

The UCF recruiting class of 2006 and the rest of the Golden Knights return to action in August.
