EL PASO, Texas - Senior Tiffany Roebuck earned fourth place in the hammer throw as the UCF women's track and field team opened competition at the 2006 Conference USA Outdoor Track and Field Championship at UTEP's Kidd Field on Thursday.

Roebuck, the school recordholder and a three-time NCAA Regional qualifier in the event, was third in her flight but dropped to fourth overall with a toss of 176-feet, 10 inches (53.90 meters), narrowly missing the regional standard of 54.15m. She received all-conference honors for the effort.

Competing in only the second heptathlon of her career, freshman Sheree Carter collected 2,840 points and was in fifth place through four events. She opened the competition strongly with personal-best performances as she finished fifth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.13 and tied for second in the high jump with a mark of 5-4.50. Carter was also ninth in the shot put and ended the day by placing sixth in the 200m dash with a personal best of 26.03.

Houston's Rachel Esley set the standard in the heptathlon as she led the field with 3,392 points.
