ORLANDO - The UCF men's tennis team had little trouble with visiting Jacksonville on Sunday afternoon, easing to a 6-0 victory over the Dolphins at the UCF Tennis Complex. The match marked the regular season finale for the Golden Knights (11-9).
The teams did not play doubles matches and UCF won all six singles tilts against the Dolphins, who fall to 0-14 with the loss.
"This was a good way to end the regular season," said UCF head coach Bobby Cashman. "Now it is time for our guys to get focused and ready for the conference championship."
UCF freshman Jimmy Roesch had little trouble with Matt Kampfe at No. 5, earning a 6-0, 6-0 win. Freshman Brock Sakey breezed past Tim Newman, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 4.
At the top singles spot, sophomore Sinan Sudas recorded a 6-3, 6-4 win over Marcos Oliveira. Fellow sophomore Alamgir Wali took a 6-2, 6-1 decision over Clay Garrett at No. 2. Playing at No. 3, junior Sebastian Delgado defeated Cory Garrett, 6-1, 6-0. Freshman Norman Alcantara won via a walkover at No. 6.
With the win, the Golden Knights improved to 20-3 all-time against the Dolphins.
