NEW YORK, N.Y. - UCF wide receiver Brandon Marshall was selected in the fourth round by the Denver Broncos in the 2006 NFL Draft Sunday afternoon. The Broncos drafted Marshall with the 119th pick in the draft.
Marshall is the first Golden Knight selected in the NFL Draft since 2004 when the Carolina Panthers selected tight end Michael Gaines in the seventh round.
The last UCF player taken in the fourth round of the draft was cornerback Asante Samuel in 2003 by the New England Patriots.
Marshall was named a second-team all-Conference USA on offense after he led the team with 74 receptions for 1,195 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2005. He finished second in UCF single-season history in receiving yards, tied for eighth in UCF history in receptions and tied for sixth in touchdown receptions.
He was named UCF's MVP in the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl after 11 receptions for 210 yards and three touchdowns. The 210 yards receiving were the fourth-highest total in single-game history at UCF as he also set Hawaii Bowl records for most receptions and receiving yards in a game.
In 2004, Marshall appeared in 10 games, including 10 starts. He started three games at wide receiver and seven at safety. Marshall recorded eight receptions for 84 yards at wide receiver and led the team with 51 total tackles from his safety position.
