IRVING, Texas - UCF sophomore center fielder Tyson Auer was named Conference USA Hitter of the Week by the league office Monday afternoon. Auer led UCF with a .538 batting average and 11 RBI in three games (7-of-13) last week for the Golden Knights.
In the first game of the Marshall series, Auer finished a home run shy of the cycle, going 3-for-6 with a career-high six RBI. In game two of the series, Auer was again just a homer shy of the cycle, finishing a perfect 3-for-3 with a walk and three RBI and two runs scored. He had his second three run triple of the series and stole one base vs. the Herd.
He left the game early due to a hand injury and did not play in the series finale Sunday.
Auer leads UCF in batting (.369), runs (22), hits (38), triples (6), RBI (25), total bases (56), and slugging percentage (.544). He is second on the club with 13 stolen bases in 14 attempts.
The Golden Knights return to action Tuesday evening at USF. First pitch is set for 7 p.m. from Red McEwen Field in Tampa. The game will air live on the UCF ISP Sports Network (740-AM The Team) with the "Voice of the Golden Knights," Marc Daniels. The pregame show beings at 6:45 p.m.
