ORLANDO - Despite windy conditions, the UCF women's track and field team performed well in its final regular season competition at the Golden Knight Twilight at the UCF Track and Field Complex on Saturday.
The Golden Knights started the day with impressive individual efforts in the field events. After taking first place in the hammer throw at 173-feet, one inch, senior Tiffany Roebuck also claimed top honors in the shot put with a season-best toss of 45-7.75. Sophomore Virginia Traynor was second in the event at 43-5.25.
In the pole vault, junior Tracy Fischler took third with a personal-best mark of 11-5.75, which ties her for second all-time at UCF. Sophomore Kelsey Bealert was fourth at 10-11.75, tying her own personal best mark.
Freshman Dione Thomas also recorded a personal record of 38-8.75 as she finished second in the triple jump. She also placed third in the long jump with a season-best leap of 19-6.25, while senior Diana Chin was fourth at 19-3.50.
On the track, freshman Natalie Braddock ran a personal best 64.86 for third in the 400-meter hurdles. Senior Andrea Morrow was second in the 3,000m at 10:32.41 followed by sophomore Elizabeth Miller in third at 11:04.97.
Freshman Shantile Blackburn led the Golden Knights in the 800m, where the team took the top four places.
UCF is on a two-week hiatus prior to the 2006 Conference USA Outdoor Track and Field Championship, which takes place in El Paso, Texas from May 11-13.
