IRVING, Texas - Pamela Fernandez, a senior on the UCF women's tennis team, was selected to the All-Conference USA Second Team, the league office announced late Friday.
Fernandez finished the season with a 15-13 record as the Golden Knights' top singles player. She was 12-7 in dual matches and recorded an eight-match winning streak that included wins over C-USA rivals UTEP and Marshall. She also took a three-set win over UTEP's Teri Wilkerson, 2-6, 6-1, 6-1, in the first round of the C-USA Championship earlier this month.
In doubles, Fernandez teamed with freshman Elvira Serrot for a 7-5 record at the No. 1 position.
This is the third time that Fernandez received postseason recognition. In 2003, she was named to the Atlantic Sun All-Freshman Team then garnered First-Team All-Atlantic Sun honors in 2005.
The Golden Knights finished 12-9 overall and advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2006 C-USA Women's Tennis Championship.
