Women's Tennis Drops Match at No. 72 Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Despite senior captain Pamela Fernandez recording her eighth consecutive singles win, the UCF women's tennis team fell to No. 72 Louisville, 5-2, at Bass-Rudd Tennis Center on Sunday.

The host Cardinals (18-6) earned the first point of the day after sweeping the doubles, including an 8-3 win by sophomore Robyn White and freshman Maria Klokotzky at the No. 1 position.

The Golden Knights (10-8) earned their two points at the top of the lineup although freshman Elvira Serrot was missing at her usual No. 2 spot due to injury. Fernandez defeated Klokotzky, 6-3, 6-1, at No. 1 to continue her streak and freshman Kenza Belbacha battled to a tiebreaker at No. 2. She beat freshman Bianca Gorbea, 7-5, 4-6 (11-9).

Meanwhile, junior Becky Gordon's winning streak was halted at six matches as she lost in three sets to freshman Natalia Baez, 3-6, 6-3, 6-1.

The Golden Knights were also defeated at No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5 singles.

UCF returns to Florida for its final regular season home finale against in-state rival Stetson on April 8 at 11 a.m.
