ORLANDO - Cici Alvarez went 3-for-3 with three singles as the UCF softball team fell to No. 24 Florida, 3-0, Wednesday evening at the UCF Softball Complex. The Gators improved to 34-18 on the season, while the Golden Knights fell to 16-31.

Florida's three runs came in the third inning on a Lacy Howard single to left field that went between the legs of the UCF left fielder. The Gators had two runners on at the time, both of which scored along with Howard on the hit.

The Golden Knights opened the game with back-to-back singles by Amber Lamb and Alvarez but were unable to produce a run.

Alvarez reached second in the sixth inning after leading off with a single to the short stop and then advancing on a Nicole Balogh sacrifice bunt, but was left stranded on the base path.

Stacey Nelson (10-9) went the distance for the Gators, giving up no runs on five hits with four strikeouts. Allison Kime (11-15) was pegged with the lose after giving up three runs, one of which was earned, on nine hits with four strikeouts.

Despite leaving runners at second base twice, the Golden Knights only left five runners on base for the game. The Gators, however, left 12 runners on.

The Golden Knights return to action tomorrow to host Jacksonville at 4 p.m. Tickets for all home games are available at the gate, $5 for adults and $3 for senior citizens and children 5-17.
