Three UCF Cheerleaders Named All-American

April 18, 2006

ORLANDO - UCF cheerleaders Kristal Johnson, Jackie Martin and Randy Brown were named to the 2006 Collegiate All-American Team as announced by Inside Cheerleading Magazine.

"This is the first time that we have ever had student-athletes chosen for this honor, and to have three is just really exciting," UCF cheerleading coach Linda Gooch said. "It was especially huge having Kristal on the cover. The added exposure this gives our program will help us with visibility and recruiting."

This is the third annual All-American team composed by IC. Team members were chosen based on enthusiasm, athleticism, repertoire of skills, crowd-leading ability, spirit and overall personality.

Johnson, a speech pathology major, was featured on the cover of the magazine as one of the "Head of the Class" selection along with Tennessee's Lindsay Smith and Louisville's Brandon Gwynn.

Martin and Brown were stunt partners at this year's College Cheerleading and Dance Team National Championship where the duo placed third in the nation, while the Golden Knights' cheerleading squad finished fourth.
