ORLANDO-The UCF softball team hosts No. 23 Florida Wednesday evening at 6 p.m. and Jacksonville Thursday afternoon at 4 p.m. in single mid-week games. The Golden Knights enter the game on Wednesday with a 16-30 season mark, while the Lady Gators are 30-12. The Dolphins make their way to Orlando with a 22-30 overall record.
UCF football head coach George O'Leary will be throwing out the ceremonial first pitch Wednesday evening against Florida.
Tickets for all home games are available at the gate, $5 for adults and $3 for senior citizens and children 5-17.
Scouting UCF...Cici Alvarez leads the team with a .313 batting average, 42 hits, 22 walks, 15 sacrifice hits and 18 stolen bases. Allison Kime, who named C-USA Pitcher of the Week, paces the pitching staff with a 1.78 ERA and an 11-14 mark as she has given up 76 runs on 144 hits with 177 strikeouts in 180.2 innings of work.
Last Time Out...UCF took two-of-three from Conference USA foe Memphis to earn their first series win. Allison Kime picked up the win in game one, while Ashley Baker went the distance in game two. Ashley Van Ryn hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the sixth to lift the Golden Knights over the Lady Tigers, 4-3, in the second game.
Next Up for UCF...The Golden Knights take their last road trip of the season when the team travels to El Paso, Texas to play UTEP in a three-game series Saturday and Sunday. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. ET Saturday night.
Scouting Florida...Kim Waleszonia leads the Lady Gators with a .333 batting average, while pitcher Lindsay Littlejohn is 9-4 in 17 appearances with an ERA of 1.72.
Last Time Out...The Lady Gators dropped three games to the Georgia Bulldogs last weekend (12-6, 8-3, 8-5) as Kim Waleszonia went 5-for-12 with four runs.
Series vs. Florida...The Lady Gators lead the all-time series, 4-1. The two teams last met at the 2005 NCAA Gainesville Regional Tournament where UCF eliminated Florida, 5-3. Stephanie Best went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a triple, two runs and two RBI. Lindsay Enders earned the win in the circle, going the distance and giving up three runs on five hits with five strikeouts and no walks.
Scouting Jacksonville...Janine Palumbo leads the Dolphins with a .317 batting average, while pitcher Shannon Jensen is 8-13 in 27 appearances with an ERA of 2.88.
Last Time Out...The Dolphins split with Campbell last weekend in North Carolina. The Camels took game one 4-3, while JU answered with a 5-1 victory in game two.
Series vs. Jacksonville...The Golden Knights lead the all-time series against the Dolphins, 6-1. The two teams last met in the 2005 Atlantic Sun Tournament where the Golden Knights eliminated Jacksonville from the tournament, 9-5.
