Men's Tennis Earns Fifth Seed at C-USA Championship

IRVING, Texas - The UCF men's tennis team has earned the fifth seed at the 2006 Conference USA Championship and will face No. 4 UAB on Friday in first round action at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Okla. The Golden Knights are in their first season competing in C-USA.

UCF (11-9) has made three-consecutive trips to the NCAA Championship, winning the Atlantic Sun title each time. All of the team's postseason appearances have come under head coach Bobby Cashman.

Rice, ranked 28th nationally, is the top seed at the tournament. SMU is the second seed and Tulsa earned the third seed.

UCF and UAB will meet on Friday at 9 a.m. Eastern. The teams played during the regular season in Orlando and the Golden Knights recorded a 5-2 victory. The Blazers enter the tournament with an 11-4 record.

The semifinals are set for Saturday and the title match will be played at 1 p.m. on Sunday. The championship winner receives the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Championship.
