ORLANDO - UCF's Amber Lamb went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one run scored as the UCF softball team was defeated by Memphis 3-1 Saturday afternoon in Conference USA action at the UCF Softball Stadium. The Lady Tigers improved to 22-21 on the season and 6-8 in C-USA play, while the Golden Knights fell to 16-30 and 2-16.
Allison Kime (11-14) went the distance for the Golden Knights, giving up three runs on eight hits with seven strikeouts. Jenna Kubesch earned the win for the Lady Tigers, giving up one run on seven hits with seven strikeouts.
The Lady Tigers took a 1-0 lead after their half of the third inning when Leila Dolfo hit a sacrifice fly to right field, scoring Lindsey Pridgen from third.
The Golden Knights evened the score at one apiece in the home half of the third. Lamb hit a two-out double to left center and then scored on a Cici Alvarez single to right field.
Memphis added a second run in the fourth after Kara Ross singled to left field, plating Bridgette McNulty from first.
On a Kimberly Hayden ground out to the short stop, Leandra Hines scored Memphis' third run of the game.
The Golden Knights return to the softball field Wednesday night when the team hosts No. 22 Florida. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. Tickets for all home games are available at the gate, $5 for adults and $3 for senior citizens and children 5-17.
