MIAMI - Junior Katie Fowke and the pole vaulters led the UCF women's track and field team at the Miami Elite Invitational on Saturday.
Fowke placed second in the pole vault with a mark of 11-feet, 11.75 inches, just a quarter of an inch shy of tying her school record of 12-0 and centimeters from the NCAA Regional qualifying standard. Sophomore Michelle Teuton took seventh at 10-11.75, while classmate Kelsey Bealert was eighth at 10-11.75.
In the hammer throw, senior Tiffany Roebuck surpassed the NCAA Regional standard for the third time this season with a toss of 178-11 to finish third. Senior Rian Thomas earned eighth place with a mark of 159-6.
Elsewhere, senior Diana Chin ran to a 10th finish in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.28 and also earned a mark of 19-1.25 for 12th place in the long jump.
Sophomore Victoria Chin was 10th in the 400m dash at 55.60, while junior Christina Jones posted a season-best time of 2:15.37 to place 11th in the 800m event.
The Golden Knights return to action at the Bulldog Invitational in Athens, Ga. from April 21-22.
