UCF Spring Football Practice Report No. 14

April 14, 2006

ORLANDO - The UCF football team completed its 14th practice of the spring Friday morning inside the Nicholson Fieldhouse. The team went through its final preparations for Saturday's scrimmage between the Gold and White.

"Tomorrow I want to see the players go out and compete," stated UCF head coach George O'Leary following Friday's light workout. "We divided the team up for tomorrow's Gold-White scrimmage. I always appoint the seniors to each team and they get to draft the players they want for each squad."

The draft was held earlier in the week, position by position. Once the teams were set, O'Leary assigned coaches to each squad. The athletic trainers and strength coaches have also been assigned, one unit for the Gold and one for the White.

"I am neutral tomorrow, I can't lose," joked O'Leary. "I just hope we stay away from injuries and that the players compete the entire time."

Following Friday's workout, several of the players began to make predictions on which team would come out on top Saturday.

"I can't wait to play this game so we can prove gold is superior to anything," said senior quarterback Steven Moffett with a smile on his face. Moffett, the leader of the Gold team, enjoyed his time of playing the role of a general manager in helping draft the offensive players for his team. "The Gold team will shine tomorrow."

Practice begins at 10:05 a.m. Saturday morning at the UCF Soccer Complex. The Gold-White scrimmage will begin after several individual periods at approximately 10:20 a.m.

Fans wishing to purchase or renew season tickets will have the opportunity tomorrow. In addition, schedule cards and posters for the 2006 season will be available to fans entering the UCF Soccer Complex. Refreshments can also be purchased during Saturday's Gold-White scrimmage.
