Softball Returns Home to Face Memphis

ORLANDO - The UCF softball team returns to the UCF Softball Stadium for a three-game series with Conference USA foe Memphis Friday and Saturday. First pitch is set for 5:30 p.m. Friday, the first under the lights at the new stadium, while Saturday's game begins at noon. The Golden Knights enter the weekend with a 14-29 season record and 0-15 in C-USA, while the Lady Tigers are 21-19 and 5-6.

The squads will play two games on Friday and conclude the series with one contest on Saturday. Tickets for all home games are available at the gate, $5 for adults and $3 for senior citizens and children 5-17.

Scouting UCF...Cici Alvarez improved her team-best batting average to .320 for the season and leads UCF with 41 hits, 21 walks, 13 sacrifice hits and 17 stolen bases. Allison Kime paces the pitching staff with a 1.81 ERA and a 10-13 mark. Kime has given up 72 runs on 132 hits with 164 strikeouts in 166.2 innings of work.

Last Time Out...UCF defeated USF, 3-1, Wednesday evening in Tampa. Amber Lamb was 2-for-3 at the plate and scored the game-winning run. Allison Kime improved to 10-13 in the circle, pitching the complete game and giving up one run on two hits with 11 strikeouts.

Next Up for UCF...The Golden Knights host two in-state rivals next week, No. 22 Florida Wednesday and Jacksonville Thursday. First pitch against the Gators is slated for 6 p.m., while the game against the Dolphins is set 4 p.m.

Scouting Memphis...Cara Stiles leads the Lady Tigers with a .394 batting average, while pitcher Jenna Kubesch is 9-7 in 21 appearances with an ERA of 1.74.

Last Time Out...The Lady Tigers split with Middle Tennessee State Wednesday night. Memphis took game one, 2-0, while the Blue Raiders won the nightcap, 3-2.

Series vs. Memphis...The Golden Knights and the Lady Tigers have never met on the softball diamond before.

Golden Knights Snap Streaks...When the UCF softball team defeated USF, 3-1, on April 12 it snapped two streaks. The first was an 18-game losing streak, while the second was an eight-game skid against the Bulls.
