Softball Closes out Seven-Game Road Swing at USF

ORLANDO - The UCF softball team takes on in-state rival USF in Tampa Wednesday at 5 p.m. in a single game. The Golden Knights enter the match-up 13-29 on the season, while the Bulls are 36-18.

Scouting UCF...Cici Alvarez improved her team-best batting average to .315 for the season after going 3-for-3 in the final game at UAB over the weekend. Alvarez leads UCF with 39 hits, 21 walks, 13 sacrifice hits and 17 stolen bases. Allison Kime paces the pitching staff with a 1.84 ERA and a 9-13 mark. Kime has given up 71 runs on 130 hits with 153 strikeouts in 159.2 innings of work.

Last Time Out...UCF dropped three games to UAB last weekend (2-1, 2-0, 7-5) in Birmingham. Amber Lamb was 5-for-9 with two runs, two doubles, two walks and one RBI for the series.

Next Up for UCF...The Golden Knights return to Conference USA action when the team hosts Memphis Friday and Saturday in a three-game series. Friday's first pitch is set for 5:30 p.m., while Saturday's is noon. Tickets are available at the gate, $5 for adults and $3 for senior citizens and children 5-17.

Scouting USF...Krista Holle leads the Bulls with a .348 batting average, while Cristi Ecks is 15-9 in 31 appearances with an ERA of 0.98.

Last Time Out...The Bulls swept Big East opponent Providence, 8-3 and 3-2, Sunday afternoon in Rhode Island. Britta Giddens was 4-for-8 with two runs and a double. Krista Holle picked up four RBI on two hits in game one of the series.

Series vs. USF...The Bulls lead the all-time series, 8-0. The two teams last met at the 2005 NCAA Gainesville Regional Tournament where USF won, 5-4. Stephanie Best paced the Golden Knights, going 2-for-3 at the plate with two runs, an RBI and a home run.
