Softball Travels to California

FRESNO, Calif. - The UCF softball team travels to Fresno, Calif. to participate in the Fresno State Bulldog Classic March 9-12 at Bulldog Stadium. The Golden Knights play Ball State Thursday at 11 p.m., San Diego Friday at 4 p.m., No. 25 Fresno State Friday at 10 p.m., No. 15 Washington Saturday at 8 p.m., No. 8 Oregon State Saturday at 10 p.m. and No. 21 DePaul Sunday at 2 p.m.

Scouting UCF...The Golden Knights enter the tournament with a 12-11 record. Cici Alvarez leads UCF with a .361 batting average, 26 hits, 17 runs, 10 walks and seven sacrifice hits. Allison Kime is 8-4 in the circle for the Golden Knights with a 1.40 ERA. She has given up 28 runs on 53 hits with 91 strikeouts in 85.0 innings of work.

Scouting Ball State...The Cardinals enter the weekend with a 3-3 record. Amanda Pick paces the team with a .571 batting average after going 8-for-14 with three runs, one double and five RBI. She (2-0) also leads the pitching staff with a 0.00 ERA, including nine strikeouts and three walks in 15.1 innings of work.

Series vs. Ball State...The Golden Knights and the Cardinals have never met on the softball diamond.

Scouting San Diego...The Toreros enter the tournament with a 9-6 record, led by Sara Mason's .391 batting average. Kathleen Bonja leads the team in home runs (3), RBI (10) and hits (18). In the circle for San Diego, Gina McFarland has a 1.83 ERA with a 2-2 record in 23.0 innings of work.

Series vs. San Diego...This weekend's game will mark the first meeting between the Golden Knights and the Toreros on the softball field.

Scouting Fresno State...The Bulldogs enter the weekend with an 11-9 record after playing in the Aztec Classic in San Diego, Calif. last weekend. Haley Perkins leads the team with a .362 batting average with 14 runs, two doubles, two triples, one home run and 15 RBI. Robin Mackin is 10-5 in the circle for Fresno State with a 1.59 ERA as she has given up 27 runs on 57 hits in 101.0 innings of work.

Series vs. Fresno State...The Golden Knights lead the all-time series, 1-0, versus the Bulldogs. UCF defeated Fresno State, 3-2, in Poway, Calif. during 2003. Nikki Green went 1-for-4 with a double and two RBI for UCF. Dottie Cupp earned the win in the circle, pitching nine innings and giving up two runs on five hits with six strikeouts.

Scouting Washington...The Huskies enter the weekend with a 15-6 record after playing in the Compass Invitational in Waco, Texas. Ashley Charters paces the Huskies with a .478 batting average. Domini Lastrapes leads the team in runs (21), home runs (2) and RBI (16). Danielle Lawrie is 9-3 in the circle for Washington with a 1.45 ERA.

Series vs. Washington...The Golden Knights lead the all-time series, 1-0. The two teams last met on Feb. 12, 2005 in Las Vegas, Nev. Stephanie Best hit a solo home run to give UCF a 1-0 vitory over the then ranked No. 8 Washington Huskies.

Scouting Oregon State...The Beavers enter the weekend with an 18-2 record after winning the CSUF Worth Tournament in Fullerton, Calif. a week ago. Brianne McGowan leads the team with a .421 batting average in 17 games and is also 11-1 in the circle for Oregon State with a 1.77 ERA. She has given up 28 runs on 74 hits with 73 strikeouts in 83.0 innings of work.

Series vs. Oregon State...The Golden Knights and the Beavers have never met on the softball diamond.

Scouting DePaul...The Blue Demons enter the weekend with a 7-2 record after playing in the GRU Florida Tournament Feb. 17-19. Amber Patton leads the team with a .364 batting average. Tracie Adix is 4-0 in the circle for DePaul with a 0.00 ERA in 26.1 innings of work.

Series vs. DePaul...The Golden Knights lead the all-time series, 1-0. UCF and DePaul's only meeting came in 2005 at the Clearwater Invitational where the Golden Knights won, 3-0. Crystle Krafft was 2-for-2 at the plate with a double and a stolen base. Lindsay Enders earned the win in the circle, giving up no runs on four hits with two strikeouts in seven innings of work.

Best Week Ever...Allison Kime was named Conference USA Pitcher of the Week for the week of Feb. 27-March 5 the league office announced Monday. Kime was 3-0 in the circle for the Golden Knights as UCF took second place at the UCF Softball Tournament over the weekend. She appeared in five of UCF's six games over the weekend, throwing three complete game shutouts. Two of her shutouts came against Creighton, while she threw a one-hitter against Villanova. Kime gave up one earned run in 25.2 innings of work for an ERA of 0.27, while striking out 36 opponents. The honor was the first in Kime's career.

Conference Statistics...The Golden Knights have shown that they are among the best in the conference when it comes to conference statistics. Cici Alvarez is ranked in the top ten for hits (23), sacrifice bunts (6), stolen bases (10) and assists (56). Kacie Feaster is ranked in the top ten for doubles (7) and at bats (68).
