ORLANDO - After competing in a tournament in Boise, Idaho last week, the UCF men's tennis team returns home to host North Florida at 2 p.m. on Thursday at the UCF Tennis Complex. Admission to all UCF tennis matches is free.
The Golden Knights enter the match with a 9-8 mark. UCF finished seventh at the Boise State Red Lion Spring Break Tournament on Saturday. Head coach Bobby Cashman's team won two of four contests at the 16-team tournament. The Golden Knights finished the event with a 4-3 victory over the College of Santa Fe, ranked fourth nationally in the NAIA poll.
UCF's two losses at the tournament were both against ranked opponents. In Boise, the squad faced No. 40 Western Michigan and No. 70 Ball State.
The Golden Knights have only three matches remaining in the regular season. All three of its remaining contests are at home and against in-state opponents. UCF will participate in its first Conference USA Championship, starting April 20 in Tulsa, Okla.
North Florida improved to 11-6 with a 6-1 win at home over Illinois-Chicago on March 21. The Ospreys, who are in their first season in the Atlantic Sun Conference, have won three of their last four matches.
In five series meetings, North Florida holds a 4-1 edge against the Golden Knights.
