UCF Sweeps Dartmouth

ORLANDO - UCF earned its fourth straight victory as the Golden Knights routed Dartmouth, 7-0, in women's tennis action at the UCF Tennis Complex on Friday afternoon.

UCF (9-6) opened the match by earning the doubles point. Senior captain Pamela Fernandez and freshman Elvira Serrot battled for the sweep as the duo edged Dartmouth's (3-7) Megan Zebroski and Natalie O'Rourke, 8-7, after winning the tiebreaker 7-3.

Fernandez and Serrot also went to tiebreakers in their respective singles matches. At the No. 1 position, Fernandez defeated Zebroski 6-4 in the first set before dropping the second one 6-2. She took the tiebreaker 10-4.

After losing the first set 4-6, Serrot fought for a 6-3 win in the second and earned the tiebreaker 10-6 over the Big Green's Anna Snow at No. 2.

Meanwhile, junior Becky Gordon earned her fifth consecutive victory with an easy 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles.

"We played very good tennis and it's good to get the win," said UCF head coach Patricia Allison. "We have a very tough test ahead of us with our first match against a Conference USA opponent tomorrow."

The Golden Knights close out their five-match homestand against UTEP at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
