LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. - Freshman Shantile Blackburn was one of several athletes recording personal bests as the UCF women's track and field team opened competition at the Disney Invitational on Thursday.
Blackburn finished second in the 1500m with a time of 4:41.72, beating her previous personal best by four seconds. Junior Christina Jones was sixth in the event at 4:53.80 followed by sophomore Kristen Zieminski in seventh at 4:54.12.
In the 5000m, senior Michelle Brouillet and sophomore Allison Palmer each posted personal bests at 18:47 and 18:53, respectively.
Meanwhile, senior and two-time NCAA Regional qualifier Andrea Morrow placed second in her first 3000m steeplechase of the season with a time of 11:19.71, while sophomore Elizabeth Miller took third with a personal best of 11:57.30.
Competing as unattached individuals, members of the UCF men's cross country team also performed well as junior Ryan White earned a personal record in the 1500m at 4:00.58. His twin brother Brent White finished just behind him in ninth place at 4:01.92.
The Golden Knights continue competition at the Disney Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
