Women's Tennis Drops Murray State

ORLANDO - Earning four straight points, the UCF women's tennis team (8-6) took a 6-1 win over Murray State (4-7) at the UCF Tennis Complex on Wednesday afternoon.

The Golden Knights swept through the doubles, winning quickly at No. 3 and No.2 before senior captain Pamela Fernandez and freshman Elvira Serrot fought for an 8-7 victory over juniors Anna and Rachael Lask at No. 1.

UCF continued to roll in the singles competition. Junior Megan Hunter opened with a 6-0, 6-2 decision over freshman Adriana Alvarez at No. 5 followed by a 6-0, 6-1 win by junior Becky Gordon at No. 6.

Freshman Kenza Belbacha secured the win for the Golden Knights as she defeated freshman Anne Pennington, 6-4, 6-1, at the No. 3 position.

Fernandez and sophomore Anna Yakimchenkova won their respective matches after splitting the first two sets and earning the tiebreaker.

The Golden Knights return to action against Dartmouth on Friday at 2 p.m. at the UCF Tennis Complex.
