UCF Takes on Visiting Murray State Wednesday

March 21, 2006

ORLANDO - Continuing its five-match homestand and playing its third match in six days, the UCF women's tennis team hosts Murray State at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at the UCF Tennis Complex. Admission is free to all fans.

UCF improved to 8-5 overall when it defeated Buffalo and Minnesota over the weekend. The Golden Knights were strong at the top of the lineup thanks to senior captain Pamela Fernandez at No. 1 and freshman Elvira Serrot at No. 2, while junior Becky Gordon also grabbed victories at No. 6.

The Racers bring a 4-6 record to Orlando after losing to Georgia State, 5-1, on Sunday. Senior Tami McQueen tallied the only point by earning a 6-2, 6-2 victory at the No. 6 singles position. Poor weather forced the cancellation of the team's scheduled Monday match-up with Emory.

Wednesday marks the first time that the Golden Knights have met Murray State on the hardcourt.
