RICHMOND, Va. - Sophomore Anna Yakimchenkova provided UCF's only point as the Golden Knights (5-5) dropped a 6-1 decision to host Richmond in women's tennis action Sunday.
The Spiders (6-6) opened the afternoon by winning all three doubles matches and carried the momentum in the singles competition, where they won at the top three spots.
At No. 1 singles, UCF senior captain Pamela Fernandez won the first set 6-2, before dropping the second set 7-6 and losing the tie breaker 10-8 to freshman Pamela Duran of Richmond.
After losing the first set 6-3 to senior Meghan Wolfgram, Yakimchenkova battled back to win the final two sets by identical 6-1 scores.
The Golden Knights continue their matches in Virginia when they face Old Dominion on Monday at 2 p.m. before returning home to host Buffalo on Friday at 11 a.m.
